>>56011019>Why do people keep spamming this dogshit take?Because there are many Pokemon that people like but can never use in battle, so giving them something to help make them useful would allow them to use the Pokemon they like. Didn't think it was really that hard to grasp this pretty decent take, but I guess I was wrong
>Megas should only be given to pokemon that can at least semi reliably stand on their ownIf a Pokemon can stand on its own, why does it need the power boost? I understand popular Pokemon getting Megas even though they don't really need them, that's always going to happen when it comes to new gimmicks, but solely giving strong Pokemon even more power simply for power's sake is retarded. Hell, even giving a Mega to a Pokemon is no guarantee that it'll be useful; very few players run Mega Garchomp for a reason
>instead of needing to be permanently stapled to a specific stoneThe same could be said for every Pokemon with a gimmick, honestly. Imagine Rillaboom without Grassy Glide, or Incineroar without Intimidate. If they didn't have those abilities they'd just be mediocre shitmons. There's nothing wrong with a Pokemon being reliant on a gimmick, at least it gives it some form of usefulness
>and hope to switch in without dying mid-battle just be usable.Which can be done at the start of a battle, when another Pokemon faints or, if you're playing the main campaign, whenever you KO an opponent. Mega Beedrill, for instance, prefers to come out at the start of the battle to scout ahead due to its incredible attack and speed, as well as access to Adaptability-boosted U-Turn which can switch it out for something better whilst laying on the hurt. Honestly, you make it sound so much worse than it is, and I imagine it's because you've never actually played online/competitive battles before and if you have, you were probably one of those brainlets who uses only Legendary Pokemon because DEY VERIE STRONK without any proper strategy
