The lore is that at least from what I can gather, that the Champion kills the 'Dreaming Daughter' which sets off the destruction of the world by the Seamother. We also know there 'has' to be a Dreamer so the world can't be destroyed.

So the old man's 'is' a Dreamer, who is dreaming of the moon glade, but for some reason his existence isn't sufficient to stop the world's collapse, maybe because he's trapped in some weird alternate dimension. Darkrai is probably involved too, given Cresselia is heavily associated with the moon/dreams? If/when I replay it, I'll probably try and figure out the lore

I am more or less aware of the plot and how it works, what I'm more so wondering that there's possibly a puzzled or some sort of link here, I'm trying to figure out the secrets with the game since they fascinate me and allude me for now.
There's also the "Steel Father" aka the PC thing that seems to be hunting down the "infection" in whatever way it can, the fact it's referred to as "father" when there's another character who shares that distinct name, there's very likely some connection here as well.

they did norman dirty. slaking kept missing with giga impact, and it's truant. Isn't the gag that you give it skill swap? It's not even porygon z, just 2, like damn talk about whitney bias. mega kangaskhan was the big issue but it kept trying to paralyze bewear with body slam which gave it ample time to slam it with hammer arm.

the infection is probably missigno, and the book in the steelfather's hive is definitely the work of the champion, as he's the one who killed the dreaming daughter.
also, the steelfather is responsible (probably?) for forcibly stopping all human life on the island from moving and is the source of all trainer battles in the game as it's ordered to do so by the champion (or maybe the other way around, the steelfather is the one controlling the champion and even when you beat it you don't really kill it since there are still PCs around, you can just use some of its power for yourself), after all, both the steelfather and champion DON'T want you to succeed in the case that you aren't able to kill missigno, and destroying the island is a guaranteed way to kill it
another good question is, why are there trainer battles and even PCs in the dreaming halls and what even are the dreaming halls to begin with?
definitely a lot more fun to theorize about this game than rejuv, kek

I think it's implied that while the PC hive and Steelfather were originally intending to contain Missingno, they started to become corrupted themselves over time as well.

I think the safest place in this setting is probably inside Suit's gameclub (provided you're good at triple triad) assuming the wanderer killing missingo was as implausibly slim chance as it's made out to be.

Going to start 'small' with a mod of Rejuv and make some new maps, crests, change around some shit, probably add some new sidequests
If I ever make it public, I'm going to pile on EXTRA fat helpings of kaizoshittery for the lulz and to see how rebornevo responds, you are very free to call me a niggertrannyfaggot if I do this and we do a playthrough
the actual reason I'd do such a thing is mostly to learn how AI for custom shit works for when I eventually make my own project, not to deliberately create something terrible. still, it might be funny anyway to make shit I know is bad and see if it attracts the usual flies who unironically like that

here are the six pokemon that served me the best if you want to know

this game was an absolute chore to play through. the level cap system in this game is ass. only raising by 1 or levels a chapter is a slog in terms of progression. what makes this really annoying is the trainerspam. there are WAY TOO MANY trainers in this game, even without the level cap. I know some poeple are going to talk about resource management but with the amount of people you battle in this game you straight up don't have enough money to have a reasonable amount of healing items to traverse certain areas. I spent a lot of time having to walk back to pokemon centers because of this. and then there are "wild pokemon tainers", one of the greatest wastes of time I've ever experienced. not only are there too many of these as well, they're also literally the same thing, 4 pokemon of the same evolution line. talk about monotonous. there are also overworld encounters that you can't run away from, I don't know why that's a thing. this game loves to waste your time

the balancing of this game is all over the place. it's another fangame that has a new typ that's strong against the best types and weak against the weaker ones. but there's also individual changes to pokemon. another fangame that makes ledian into a completely different pokemon while the best they could do with exploud was give it more special attack when it doesn't need it. some attacks also had some really weird changes. hper voice is nerfed to 80 bp, why? boomburst was also nerfed and I guess was supposed to lower your special attack but that didn;t really happen. so either that's a bug or ayrei forgot to change the description for certain moves. the trainers you battle are arguably even funnier. the gym leaders in particular start out as fucking world beaters, hell the first route boss I battled had an arcanine. and then they become absolte jokes

the bugs. man those 50 playtesters put in that FUCKING WORK didn't they. seeing pic related for a huge chunk of the game is crazy. ayrei's rush to get the game out on his birthday left the game with so much shit. multiple trainers are just missing dialogue, some trainers repeate thier lines, I ran into more than a few invisible barriers, this game is a mess. I still remember that battle with the dusknoir where the dusclops tried to use destiny bond and broke out of pp.

the side content in this game is also a waste of time. the rewards are not worth engaging with any sidequest or even battles. the route bosses and gyme leaders don't really give you anything great most of the time. the TRs are largely filled with moves that shouldn't be TRs but are because ayrei didn't want to give you any good moves. limited TMs for fucking swift and brine, no thanks

and of couse, the story is not good. the plot in the grand scheme of things is just bog standard shounenshit so there's nothing to write home about even though the idea of a pokemon game where you're required to get proper training and license to use pokemon should be interesting. but nope, the final battle of this version ends with you fucking punching the pokemon really hard. the MC of this game is annoying. stoppong the story multiple times per CHAPTER whining about his lost memories and what will happen when he remembers them. and then he concludes by saying "let's just enjoy what I have", like ok we get it. on top of lacking the urgency of even trying to find out what his past is, the MC just comes across as a whiny little bitch. when people say sho don't tell, they mean avoid repitition, not saying the same shit over again and that's all this story does. we keep hearing the MC talking about his memories, calvin saying he's struggling to keep up, marshal not doing shit with his life, rylas remembering she has friends, rylas fucking crying all of the time, rylas in general holy shit. and the dialogue just sucks

I think the journals are written by the champion, and he acts as either an avatar of or the most powerful supporter of the Steel Father - remember, he blocks off access to the cave with fire types in it, and the Steel Father is implied to be the one to give him Zacian
Honestly I don't think Steel Father was ever human at all, but maybe kind of a primordial deity thing along with the Seamother, especially with their conflicting names

I almost feel tempted to do one last round of exploration and hunting, but I delayed enough and I want to go have the final bout. Here's my main mons, I think I caught almost everything by this point, I'm workshopping ideas to beat the champion, I know his last 3 mons will be an absolute nightmare to take down, I was considering setting up with Mega Salamence while protecting it with one of my support mons like Indedee or Amoongus, I'm not sure how feasible that is considering the first two mons the champ has. I only 3 downed members in Delphox, Volcarona and Entei right now, I doubt they'd help in the final fight, I have screens support, paralysis cheese, quite a few options really, I just feel rather paralyzed with how I'm approaching the upcoming fights.

Don't get too hung up on it. Ditto works especially well into that fight due to all the high leveled ubers he slings around, if you're really pressured. The thing is that you still need to get through the E4 and will have to weigh your deaths and what you can bring afterwards before even fighting him

Enemy can't suffer any super effective damage
Your pokemon get a perish song countdown when sent out
Enemy pokemon get X amount of evasion on send out and can't have it lowered or removed
You can't get positive effects from the field
PULSE4, double max EVs on every stats and every ability plus one or two asspulled from outside a pokemons ability list
Double battle but you can only use one pokemon
Healing effects damage you

Maybe the biggest weakness it has is not being able to play Sucker Punch mind games, and not predicting switches, but the other games where the AI does try to predict switches end up making it pretty dumb.

I don't know where to begin. First of all, I played Empire, and it's not Empire-tier bad, but holy shit, does this game have a lot of fucked up things.
Map Design overall is really bad; nothing really stuck out, and the same copy-pasted assets make up the majority of what you see.
The story is really shit, TLDR, you don't really care about anyone, and it's kinda just there, at least Reborn and Rejuv grab your interest somewhat with its world and characters.
Difficulty is an entire bag of worms. It starts off okay but quickly curves when foes start pressing you with Life Orbs and Choice items, none of which the game gives you to make things equal. EV training that doesn't take hours is locked behind a daily limit, and while limiting the player does induce challenge, it felt more frustrating than fun.
I would not recommend this to anyone unless you are a diehard Essentials fan and want to play a janky piece of shit.
At least it's not Empire bad, might force myself to give it a try again one day.

You hate to see it. It's weird though, for me I've just outright stopped EV training or IV breeding in many of these games entirely and accepted a statistic disadvantage because most of the time I just do not give enough of a shit about the game to optimize my mons. When the Etrian Odyssey fangame actually got me to want to EV train my team in it by both having a less-than-autistic method of doing so as well as a difficulty curve that justified it, it was one of my internal green flags for "hey this game's pretty damn good and I'm having a lot of fun with it". It's a rare sensation and I cherish it.

That's what it always turns into. The retards that make these custom moves can't help themselves, and make a move so powerful that it's almost always the best choice for the AI. I think the worst part is that they're commonly aware they've made overpowered dogshit, because the player is almost never given the move.

I am actually kinda surprise how rare Back Alley as a field is, I'm pretty sure there's not a single fight in it (or at least a battle that outright started on it) for the whole game and if I hadn't accidentally created one once, I wouldn't even know it existed. The tropical paradise field is really bizarre and has a tide mechanic that either spawns harsh sunlight or heavy rain depending on which stage the tide is in, it's really hard to interact with the field normally though, feels really underbaked. Wanna hear a fucked up joke? I was looking into Empire's field list and there's mention of an "Abyssal Field" and "Battle Ship Field", hope you lads are ready for Octavius' take on underwater and water surface.

Barely started the game and I'm already hit with existential dread.

Just do the same thing that worked in Full Moon, go into the Scripts in RPGMaker, and put $DEBUG=true under Def Main Function

If the issue is it's trying to compile without PBS, look at where you see Compiler.main and comment it out (put a hashtag to the left of it)
