As a kid playing the old GB and GBA games were not only fun, but it felt like your imagination would go wild and you'd just be able to "see" certain moments that were happening either in the story or during the battles. Haven't had that happen in a while even though I still play a ton of /vr/ related games.
This one is the first one in a while that has been able to recapture that feeling. Getting cornered in a hall deep into a dungeon, having my character and vulpix fighting their own battles and just barely scraping through that encounter, I could just visualize the whole thing so clearly.
On top of that the writing is both pleasant and humorous, the ost is wonderful, and the art assets are incredible. It's really rekindling my love for pokemon in general and after this I'm excited to play through some of the various romhacks people have made for the mainline series.
