Saying a city is "too political" for Pokemon is fucking dumb when you think about it unless we're talking about an ongoing genocide or some shit like that (and usually something like that happening means it's a city Pokemon would never have been interested in basing a region off of anyway), otherwise it would be like if Occupy Wall Street made Pokemon stop advertising Gen 5 all of a sudden or something (or any number of other stupid things Americans do every election cycle). Pokemon basically exists in an idealized version of our world as far as cities go, emphasizing cultural points of reference and positive experiences. It's probably the least offensive and optimistic way of thinking of the world but apparently that's too political for people in a children's monster franchise.
