Funny thing is that from the leaks of the beta versions of RS, you could read that Altaria was originally a more generic cloud dragon in the same style as Rayquaza. But since the cloud motif was already taken by Swablu, they decided to merge the two into one line, and redesign Altaria to be more bird-like.

Dragonite is still a solid design, the problem is that it’s a massive difference compared to its prevos.
If they kept the same theme for Dragonair’s evolution and made Dragonite it’s own thing it’d be a lot better I think
