That sort of shit definitely isn't deliberate, but that's probably because Ame (or pretty sure Jan wrote a bunch of that shit) just can't think in any other way. A lot of it was probably done to make gym leaders like Sapphira or Titania look cool, but just made me annoyed whenever I see the parts where they showed up, and I'm preparing to be pissed off when I play through those parts myself.

The team. Pineco was surprisingly the MVP but it was miserably pivoting it around the lead slot because the fucking Cacturne was beyond fickle, the winning play was using Bug Bite to break the sash, then using Rapid Spin to throw away the spikes, then Cradily comes in and it does a bit of chip with Bug Bite before going down, the afterwards it was just a matter of stalling with Bronzor until I could reliably come in to set up with Wormadam, if that FUCKING BRELOOM managed to land a crit Mach Punch I would tear out my hair and scream until my lungs gave out.

I'm trying to brainstorm some stuff, Corey's Crobat having Hidden Power Fighting fucks over my strategy hard, thankfully Girafarig knows Psychic Terrain as it's egg move, which helps mitigate the poison faggotry, the issue is that there's a lot of weird stuff happening with the corrosive field and poisonous mist field, that fucking Skuntank screws me over pretty hard this early and Braixen for as essential as it has been doesn't have access to good moves yet.

Yeah even after all these years of waiting Jan still cannot write a good, cohesive story. Assuming this hasnt been written out, and please dont tell me if it actually has or not I wanna be surprised, but I remember even back in the v6-8 days there's a segment where Melia just, decides to try and fucking ghost literal gods of space and time because... they were mean. Not only is that a fucking retarded idea, it caused an alternate timeline to become a hellscape that you get trapped in. It was from that moment on I absolutely despised Melia, I remember someone on the team at the time saying "Melia is the true protagonist of the game" and I just gave up on the game after I reached the end of what they had made. And now here we are like, 7 years later now I think? Still not finished, and the story thus far is still a trash heap. I wonder if its because they genuinely havent improved or are just too far in to completely rewrite the plot

All a debug menu is is a user interface for, well, debugging a game by messing with the internal code/scripts, the game can't actually track if you open or use it.
What does happen is that there are some events that can only be viewed by cheating/debugging, like the 999 Black Prism thing, and thus the devs can start screeching at you for using debug to view them
