Someone just came out with an analysis of the Makani Tran incident about getting DQed at a regionals last year.

Between the arbitrary nature of judges being able to issue their own discretion in how offensive or harmful something is, the usage of rules not currently applied to the current ToS (doesn't Play Pokemon have a claus at the end saying they can invent rules and rulings on the fly?), and the lack of transparency with the TCPI's rulings and communications on these matters does anyone even trust them anymore? I know this isn't unique in the sense that lots of competitive organizations function this way, but when seemingly unfair overeactions like this are made it doesn't just lose fans but creates a hostile environment for those who still stick around. It's no wonder Neil Patel quit Pokemon, if he did go to another regional some trans judge would probably DQ him for having a scary and threatening demeanor just for looking at them.
