Plusle and Minun are a fun way to push double battles, and the art of them cheering each other is cute.
Volbeat and Illumise have fun movepools that are super unique within hoenn, such as Tail Glow Volbeat.
Roselia is an iconic design, and is quite usable in game despite low stats due to a super wide support movepool.
Torkoal you can get super early with high stats, it even has higher BST than Camerupt.
Spinda has the most forms of any Pokémon and it’s likely you’ll encounter lots on the ash Route, making it memorable.
Zangoose and Seviper’s beef is incredibly iconic, and Zangoose starts with swords dance making it elite in game.
Lunatone and Solrock are iconic for the Tate & Liza fight of course, which actually posed a challenge in gen 3 games, but also they’re great for grinding moon stones and sun stones.
Castform and Kecleon are cool ways of integrating new Pokémon directly into the plot of the games, and have unique abilities that make them fun especially in double battles.
Tropius has a striking design and perfectly encapsulates the rainforest where you find it.
Chimecho is a fun super rare Pokémon to hunt for that fits the eerie nature of mt pyre. Also it’s really cute in the anime.
Absol is a super unique design and definitely feels mystical in nature. It also is fun in game even without usable Stan due to immensely high attack + shadow ball tm which you can get soon after catching it.
Relicanth being a literal treasure map at the bottom of the ocean is incredibly unique and makes the oceans of Hoenn feel magical. Needing it and Wailord for the puzzle is super unique.
Luvdisc is great for heart scales farming. Making it a Pokémon that produces it rather than buying them is great worldbuilding.
