Pokémon wasn’t a 3rd person series until Gen 7. most of the time you’ll be seeing the player’s sprite in top down. You couldn’t even see the player’s ass in the brief moments before each battle until Gen 5. This argument makes no sense

Gen 1 = Boy (only option)
Gen 2 = Depends on my mood
Gen 3 = I REALLY WANNA BE MAY!!!!
Gen 4 = Usually boy but occasionally Dawn
Gen 5 = Always boy
