It's one thing being popular in Japan, they have a different mentality to the west. But when they redesign for the wider world is when they admit it's underwhelming by the time they'd evolved to this point in series' lifespan.

They've hinted at a different direction already though. In the ID trailer for all the starters appearing in the academy dome, they paired the Hisuian starters with Snivy, Piplup and Torchic. Now seeing as they're bringing back Megas and "Gaem Freka r lasy", it makes more sense they make two temporary forms to have a gimmick starter trio, than make three redesigns on the assumption Kalos is as barren a shithole as Hisui, despite that clearly not being the case, given the two real-world countries the areas in the games are based off (Ezo being a barren shithole until colonisation and settlement into Hokkaido, Paris being founded between 2274 and 2279 years ago) and that L: Z-A will be a slavish 1:1 retread of L: A but with different pokémon.

So that's why the regional Woop evo WASN'T Paldean Quasgsire but a brand new bastard imitating Quagsire's best-loved features. But again, Alolan Raichu not Alolan Pikachu. Internet cumskulls wanking over Goo doesn't make Goo popular with the public. It was too underwhelming compared to the rest the Pseudos that came before (and well worse than the one that directly preceded it in Hydreigon) for normalfags to champion it. Hence the redesign that makes it an actual snail now.

There won't be a single Kanto starter. HOWEVER, all three will be found in the wild. There's going to be nine starters in this game counting the three that gain new formes or megas.

what is this nonsense logic? they can make regional forms for some popular Pokemon and do shitmons for the rest (which is what they did).
