Do you like the nu-box icons? I wouldn't have minded if they included shiny versions but they're a bit less charming overall.

How are they 3D? They're as 2D as it gets (even if probably they're traced from 3D renders)

I like 'em, if only because this hopefully means Game Freak will finally stick to a single type of sprites with a consistent quality instead of changing everything up each time

No because the whole point of doing it in the first place was consistency with the sprite sizes but they even managed to fuck that up

The 3DS pixel menu sprites were the best, near perfect. The current ones from BDSP onward are okay I guess, servicable for non-pixel, I still find them bland and having consistency problems. SWSH's is the worst, no question. LGPE isn't much better either.

It felt like they were half-way into the process of updating them in gen 8 but they just gave up spriting and that's why sprites are completely abandoned in gen 9

Even the music is fucked up in SWSH, everything is heavily compressed and sounds like muffled dogshit. Compare how they sound as straight rips from the game to their OST release, it's fucking night and day

PokemonShowdown needs to use these old sprites for old gens.
They used to use them in 2012-2016 before updating them to the 3DS versions but then they started using the 3DS versions for all gens including past gens which is silly
