>>56088490Very poor designs. Every pokemon design should have some form of pattern or trope that makes them easy to recognize what they are trying to be.
>EmboarPignite blows it out of the water. Pignite has markings that make it look like a wrestler or similar because it looks like he's wearing a leotard. Emboar doesn't have anything of the sort. If he had large ropes tied around his waist, like Munkidori has around his head, he would immediately be recognized as a sumo wrestler or similar and his design would be fixed. His actual design gives zero indication of his purpose or fighting abilities.
>ChesnaughtFucked up in several places. The amount of people that don't realize he's supposed to be a knight is evident of this. In fact, the amount of people that don't realize the Thief/Knight/Wizard trop of the X/Y starters shows how poorly all of them were designed. Most people recognize Greninja is a ninja and Delphox is a sorceress of some kind, but Chesnaught being so poorly designed throws the whole trope off making him the worst. In fact I would go on a limb and call him the worst designed pokemon ever. Beating even Jynx because he affects other pokemon and the overall gen as well.
>QuaquavalActually decent design because you know its a Spanish dancer, but would have been better as a duo stage evo and not a starter. Quaxwell looks lazy compared to Quaquaval and looks like they made him last minute because they ran out of time. The fighting aspect could have been better shown with larger, fan like wings, but it wouldn't fit the overall Spanish theme the game was Half-ass going for. So we're stuck with this. Large wings on birds in real life are used either for dancing or making themselves look larger. Such as in Peacocks, or Eagles when they spread their wings to defend food. They did well on the dancing part, he just doesn't look like a bird or a fighter and therefore gets shit. Rightfully so.
