Levels also aren't pointless because if you're low level going to stronger areas you won't be able to progress, but the lower level areas don't become nothing more than a nuisance to get through.
What's the point of going to early level area and fighting trainers who have lvl 10 pikachu when you're rolling round with a level 50 klawf?
If it's that much of an issue, make it a options menu toggle. Like exp share should be.
