Ignoring that there are 100's os species that havent been touched yet, rhere are multiple ways to translate a species into a Pokemon so repeats are too much of an issue, but when Unova did it, everyone lost their fucking minds because Unova wanted to avoid "leaning on KANTOOOO" so I guess Game Freak's only option after running out of species is to make an entire dex of nothing but CHARIZARD forms.

repeating species is fine but Unova did it in the laziest way by literally copying the bsts of the KAANNNTTOOO mons they were ripping off (see Bouffalant/Tauros, Conkeldurr/Machamp etc). just because they were rushed trying to meet their quota of 150 Pokemon just like KAAAAANNNNNTTTOOOOO had.

It's disingenuous to ignore the fact that the Unova's dex had to fill every niche because of its decision to only showcase the new mons. Nothing's actually wrong with repeating niches.

He probably refers to a more common species of shrimp, personally I would like one based on Krill that formed giant schools, could live in both snow and water and would serve to close the food chain of Pokemon like Wailord and Cetitan.

I don't think we will have a real peacock for a long time, TPC has the tendency that if a Pokemon can fill several niches they will use it for a long time, just as an example it took us 7 generations to have a real wolf, while its ecological role was filled by Houndoom, Manetric, and Mightyena.
