Old Chateau in Sinnoh and Abandoned Wallmart in Alola. It wasn't about the location but the soundtrack (not sure whether it is proper to call them music to begin with) in both location is very off-putting.

Its been a while since I played it but I liked the foggy woods in the new pokemon snap game.
Honestly all the environments in that game were pretty good, I wish the ones in the mainline games were the same quality

Area Zero had more of a "mysterious" kind of vibe than a "spooky" one imo, definitely the most atmospheric area of the game regardless

I'd argue it's just a different kind of spooky compared to something like the haunted chateau or whatever. An otherworldly kind of feeling rather than dark and scary. A "fear of the unknown" kinda thing.

Graphically and with the crystals and shit and no day/night cycle yeah. But the sunshine and green grass paired with the odd Pokemon and the music there give it a strange "something is subtly but seriously wrong here" vibe.
