Since we got the Iberian Peninsula for Gen 9, what would next gen pick for its region basis? I'm already interested in knowing.

I could care less about what the region is based on as long as they probably design. The last two have really struggled in making a region that feels actually visually distinct from something we haven't seen before.

Would love another American region.
Being in Japan, these people love LA, so I could really see the far west of America being an inspo for the next region. Places like Cali, alongside Vegas, Arizona, etc really make the best place to expand upon after Paldea, especially with how massive they are in scale compared to Japan
That, or maybe Italy could be a good place to start. However I really only say this because everywhere has a pasta place

Turn Australia 90°, place it on the edge of the map and add ocean with two New Zealand islands. The mainland would be danger zone, full of spider and snake pokemon, extra strong poison, water and rock types. The islands would have peaceful fairy types, grass and water pokemon living in jungle.

I'm surprised that we didn't have a Germany or Italy region yet considering how much Japan loves those two. Italy would maybe be a little too similar to Spain/Iberia so maybe it'll be Germany.

Considering it has the alps and there's Roman ruins everywhere I think it would have a lot of potential to explore stuff that they didn't for Spain but since its another warm region they would probably go for something colder like germany or scandinavian countries.

Make it germany/eastern european-esque, make the black forest a randomized dungeon/roguelike mechanic. Heavy emphasis on european folktale and myth pokemon, regionals include reimaginings of some obvious contenders. Plot is heavily based around the existence of a pokemon afterlife/underworld/paradise/cycle of rebirth with homages to norse and slavic folklore mixed with gothic horror bits.
