I never understood this complaint. That Hamtaro game looks fucking hideous, RSE look much better. To answer your question though the older games were stylized so it was easier to mask the discrepancy in graphics.

USUM objectively looks fine for a 3DS game meanwhile Gen 3 literally looks like a recolored Game Boy game and Gen 5 has shittier graphics than a huge chunk of GBA games. So no, not really.

2D games looked bad compared with other 2D games but they were only compared to mobile titles, the switch 3D games on top of looking like shit they run like shit. The comparison for rse are the hamtaro games or golden sun, which graphically look better but rse don't run like shit whereas sv and ss look like ass and are compared to botw, doom and other games that look better have more engaging gameplay and run way smoother. The jump to home console hurt the series because they don't have the excuse of "mobile franchise" anymore.

Why there is no Golden Sun anos Breath of Fire there?

Those two Mf came before gen3 anos hyped my ass off, imagining that next gen Pokemon would be kicking ass, but ended up just being a more colorfull and wider GBC game

Unbound looks like ass. Gen 4’s visuals already look bad. Compressing them down to Gen 3 sprite size constraints makes them look even worse. The character in that hack looks like a giant bobblehead shaking around rooms too small for them. None of the Gen 4 assets in battle look good when back ported to Gen 3 either. Some of the actual decent Gen 3 sprites are in the battle animation assets, and Unbound replaces them with ugly downscaled versions of Gen 4’s horrible vector-tier assets. If it wasn’t for some of the new trainer sprites for the OCs in that game actually having art direction, that hack would be 100% vomit tier.
