In my ROM hack I inserted myself as a guy who shows up to slowly walk into frame and check a flag to help the player progress if they get soft locked in one specific instance. I also show up later as a fisherman with six Lv95 Magikarp with illegal moves (Hydro Pump, Blizzard, Outrage, and Reversal).

I honestly have no problem with this. of course you're going to want to self insert if you're making a romhack. you need to understand that these projects are not made for you. they're non-profit projects that somebody is only going to make if it's personally fulfilling to them. let them have some fun with it, who cares. you didn't pay for it.

Atleast Snakewood was only meta because the game shat itself so hard the dev stopped trying. I also forgot if the dev ever actually shows up or if he's just mentioned by the character.

The ending of that game was such a troll. He made it when he was 14 to 16 and hated how it turned out. The reason the plot started to suck halfeay through is because he decided to rewrite everything.

Still a solid effort for the time especially. Even now a lot more work map-wise than what a lot of people put in.

Almost happens in gen 1 and multiple games throught the series. Nob the translator is a trainer in multiple games once each as different trainer-class.

Anyways, recommend me a good fangame besides Xenoverse, Clover and Quarantine Crystal, which imho were objectively great and Im waiting for updates for latter two
