>>56124012Annoyingly, even on a DSi or 3DS you're still stuck with WEP if you play a DS game like gen 4 Pokemon. Gen 5 is DSi enhanced so it supports DSi "advanced" connections 4-6 which allow modern WPA2 security or the connections you use in 3DS games.
To make things worse, modern routers and phone hotspots usually disallow WEP. Fortunately you can still select "open" / no password, which just works. Just remember to turn off the network when you're done using it, to prevent unwanted guests. And no, the MAC address whitelist or allowed devices list is not security, and only stops honest people. All an attacker has to do is listen to the network until an allowed device sends packets, and then set their own MAC to that one and they can connect any time they want.
