>>56132058i'll concede that the system overall wasn't meant to be taken advantage of and minmaxed, so it's more excusable in a vacuum, most of my post was comparing EVs and IVs to other RPGs that give more direct means to manipulate your stats. also, it feels more accomplishing to find out information yourself than to look up an external guide for it
>being able to max out every stat at the same time is retardedi agree but being limited in availability AND being a slog to reallocate is just frustrating, usually with how pokemon handles things the good aspects are offset by the bad aspects
>depends on what you mean by "recently"iirc at some point there was something introduced that resets EVsback to zero, but i could be misremembering (or it could just be episode 58 of "feature that exists for one (1) game")
>isn't intuitive how? just grow the EV decreasing berries?the only in-game thing that even implies EVs EXIST is the resident "have you maxed out your effort" guy in each region, who just unhelpfully says "your pokemon could put in more effort!" without bothering to explain, even vaguely, what "effort" means. regarding berries, it's just a slow, uninvolved process for something integral and usually clear-cut and simple for RPGs like stat modification
>I fail to see how this is a bad thing when games like XY and SM have methods like Hordes/SOSi'll concede these are good ways to farm EVs but which mons give which EVs is still hidden from the player. again there's things that soften the blow but there's still glaring issues to be found
>most of the time the EVs they distribute are based on what the highest stat isEVs are never even explained, so you wouldn't even know to look out for this without external knowledge that you and i already know but anyone getting into the series wouldn't. again, in a vacuum that's not a huge deal since EVs weren't made with competitive minmaxing in mind but comparing to how other RPGs handle stat modification EVs just suck ass
