This battle is absolutely fucking retarded
So many opportunities for him to flinch, freeze or crit you, the partner here is also fucking terrible. He uses a lot of moves that attack you (Sludge Wave, Boomburst) and is generally either uncooperative or too weak to do anything to the gym leader's mons
The worst part is that the only mons I get with Trick Room are fairies that don't resist Blizzard or Sludge Wave, meaning they'd frequently get killed in the crossfire from any number of different sources
I just got lucky with the freezeshit this time around on my own end and snowballed (heh) into a victory. Not much more to say, it's hard to convey how dogshit nearly everything in this fight is, from the sashes on niggers, Fake Out on some mons, etc. Probably the worst singular 12v12 I can think of, outside of maybe Allgen/Yang's takes on the mansionshit

Add in retarded fields like The Sky Arena and Bewitched Forest and it just feels like your bulk means nothing. Tanks are really good since they can punch back but I've tried Pex, Tangrowth, and Even Suicune and it just feels horrible to see them get chunked for like 50% and do nothing back. At least Pex gets toxic.
My main issue though is how unfun it is. Sometimes I just want to use a fun Pokemon like Marill, but because Belly Drum is possibly broken (Which you have to chain breed for the proper set last I played) It's related. Or like how they think locking A-Larvesta behind RNG is fine, but then complain when people use Debug. You just know their solution is going to be to axe it to postgame V14 content

A good example of defensive tanks being massively fucked by field is from my few final battles in Reborn, where my Ting-Lu, a Pokemon with an ability that cuts opponent's special attack by 25% with max special defense and an assault vest, was getting dropped by stray hits like Cresselia's Moonblast on Starlight an such, or even resisted hits like Dark Pulse on New World, fields by themselves already do a great job in curbing defensive mons down the size.

>>56135287 Desolation is a mixed bag, on one hand fossils are stuck to what's essentially a postgame fight at the very end of chapter 6, certain Pokemon like Ralts got moved from halfway across the game to one of the last areas of the current latest chapter and there's plenty of other very questionable placements like Dunsparce being stuck all the way up to level 70 as a boss behind a quest chain, but you also get stuff like Obstagoon (with flame orb AND Facade being available very early), Gligar, Pelipper and quite a few other fairly strong or decent Pokemon much earlier than other rebornlikes and though they are locked up to the near end of the game, Desolation lets you get legendaries throughout the story, earliest one being Articuno roughly around the level 70 mark.

The combination of being extremely powerful, consistent, and improving a lot of horrible terrain matchups for your squad while also not centralizing your entire strategy around themselves (unless you like losing on new world fields) makes them really fun to use both in gameplay but also teambuilding around them. I also like that they came at the end of a gruelingly difficult quest you can do early; it makes the power feel very well earned. I think being able to access them pre-E4 if you're willing to suffer for it is one of my favorite parts of AllGen (although they probably should've entered the party at L100).

regardless, urmumium's pbmoveeffects does include the code for flinch, but i wouldn't be able to edit rock slide specifically without the pbs, as i couldn't compile
i could remove flinching entirely from the game maybe, but again, that would fuck with fake out and the like which feels like going a step too far
i don't mind fake out flinch actually as it's guaranteed and i know it's going to happen and can plan for it, i just need to gamble on a fucking 70% chance rock slide doesn't flinch just to see the rest of the batlte which is so fucking annoying kek
