DP has a lot of problems that make it an outright unenjoyable experience and unlike others I'm not willing to conveniently forget they exists for the sake of sucking the DS era games off as perfect paragons of the genre that need to be held on a pedestal. Aside from that, HGSS are great games, but I found the amount of things they decided not to fix from the original kinda annoying due to playing them in close proximity.

It fixes a good amount of them, yes. But, the ranking is "Gen 4", not "Gen 4 but only the games I like".

If it's an overall ranking of them gen, I'm going to have to average it out. To be honest, I hate DP, liked Plat, and really liked HGSS but had my own share of misgivings with it as well. My feelings on the gen are really conflicted, so I felt B was fair.

not that anon. but personally, while I didn't like XY, I still had a fair amount of goodwill left for the series and thought it might just be a stumble and that things would improve in the future, and I was willing to give it that chance. it was only after a few bad generations in a row that I realized it wasn't going to turn around.
