It feels like people see "Fairy type good" and slap it onto literally any Pokemon that appears cutesy to make it good as shown with suggestions like Ice/Fairy Aurorus for example.
If I were to give Meganium some needed changes, the Umbreon route would be the way to go (low attacking stats / high defenses to go into the "gentle giant" trope that Game Freak liked to pull with Tropius and Aurorus as well, but turning the table on that to make Meganium useful). The attacking stats being lowered wouldn't be a loss since it already gets Body Press, with the Defense being increased to 130 meaning Body Press would deal even more damage. Thick Fat would replace Leaf Guard.
