That's because playable character is supposed to be older, and aged her back down to be the same as Ash. But yes, the games to need to go back to having an older protagonist

And neither does that outfit, it's loose, baggy, and covers her entire body, if that's suppose to be hebebait, then it's shit, at least the first outfit gives off 'young girl trying too dress older' but in a cute way

She's confirmed 12 years old in the manga despite having the biggest breasts out of the female dex holders (even bigger than Green/Blue in her mid 20s). The manga just likes to have the protags around the 11-14 year old range for their debut arc like the anime likes to keep most of its cast 10 years old.

The only way I can see the new characters staying 10 years old is if they're sticking around for the next 10 generations, which is looking likely.
