I hate playing a game on release, 100%ing it, and then like 8 MONTHS LATER you tell me I have to open the game again because only now can I try something that should have been in the base game? I fully completed SV and loved it, but playing The Teal Mask now just feels so... wrong, I don't know how to even explain it, I would be enjoying it much more if it were in the base game>inb4 "hurr... it's better than a third version!" It's not because third versions change the whole game little by little, it feels like a 'new game+', the whole thing changes, its like you're playing a remixed version of a game you already played, it was better>inb4 duhh im not paying for a third version yet you're paying for the DLC? stupid faggot, I'd be on your side if it were a free update, but it's not, you still have to pay just like a third version of the gamebut this doesn't matter because you should just emulate the games like a normal person, and then you'd realize, "oh yeah, dlcs fucking suck" from best to worst>Game is delayed until its fully complete with all the post-game dlc already in the game, no dlcs to be purcharsed >Game releases, Third version releases later with a lot of changes to the whole game (if you dont want to buy it just emulate it) >Game releases, DLC is added later as a free update >Game releases, MONTHS LATER you are supposed to PAY for a DLC for a game you already fully completed the entire pokedex and was done with, can't even replay it with new stuff like the third version and let me add to all of this, I fucking LOVED playing SV, its probably maybe on my top 3 favorite pokemon games of all time, so I'm not just hating the DLC just to be a normalfag who hates things that are popular to hate on, no, I hate it because its fucking lame, I already beat the game on release and completed the pokedex, why did I have to wait so long to play a cool post-game? not even counting that it took TWO releases for all DLC to be available

>>56148536 >It's not because third versions change the whole game little by little, no they don’t

Anonymous
>>56148544 They do, It's literally their selling point, different pokemon available, different NPCs talking to you, different routes, sure its not much but it IS a cool new game+ if you aren't stupid and just emulate them instead of buying the game again
Anonymous
>>56148536 DLC is industry standard and has been for at least a decade at this point. I suggest you make peace with it because it's not going anywhere.
and from gamefreak's perspective, 3rd versions historically don't sell very well (maybe because you keep pirating them) and DLC likely has a higher attach rate.

>>56148536 >I have to open the game again No, you don't.
Anonymous
>>56148613 I know and I hate it, I hate DLCs, at least pokemon isn't as bad as Atlus and their 3000 day-one dlc bullshit, but its still bad, piracy is good and doesn't harm anyone btw you fucking faggot
>>56148625 I do, I love pokemon too much to not play everything available

Just start a new save when the DLC hits Or you can be like the larping millenials and claim you only buy the third versions and start playing the game when the DLC hits
Anonymous
>>56148679 >start new save >hey you can go to teal mask right now!!!!!! with your lvl 10 team! >or you can play the whole game again with no changes whatsoever, and THEN do the dlc, haha! as I said, this is why third versions were better
Anonymous
>>56148702 Who forces you to play the game at release date? Just wait for the DLC like you waited for the third version.
Anonymous
Third version changes to the campaign are not meaningful and I don’t particularly value the campaign in the first place. I could easily replay Gold with a shitload of different teams, it doesn’t matter that Mareep isn’t there in Crystal or whatever changes to route mons when there’s already so many combos in the base game.
Anonymous
>>56148707 I already told you why I prefer the third versions, and either way, they stopped doing third versions after I figured out how to be a proper alive human being (im 19) so I never had to wait for them (USUM dont count, they're downgrades that ruin Lusamine's character)
>>56148722 The appeal of SV is the story and characters that are better than your average pokemon game

How the actual fuck is that better than 100%ing a game on a release and then like 8 months later having to 100% the whole fucking game AGAIN for mostly minor changes and barely any all new content? Are you fucking kidding me? It's also cheaper than buying a the third version.
>But you don't have to buy both games! Then wait for the fucking DLC before buying the game??
Really don't understand your point. Also, one of your arguments seems to be
>I dunno, it just... *feels* wrong! I can't explain it! which is pretty telling. There's no objectivity behind it. Which is fine, but somehow you seem to think you're right and everyone else is wrong. Smells like bait.

>>56148817 >and then like 8 months later having to 100% the whole fucking game AGAIN for mostly minor changes and barely any all new content? the minor changes stack up into a fun new game+ experience, and "barely any new content" can be fixed by simply adding content that would have been dlc into the third version

Plus you're the one complaining about how you have to "boot the game up again" like it's a painful slog, while replaying the whole game is apparently much less of a slog. Crazy shit, man.
Why are you even complaining if you're pirating? "Boohoo my FREE game does not cater to my weird taste exclusively"?

do you play other RPGs aside from pokemon? you are aware that new game+ is normal and good right?

At least with third versions I can just not buy the first version, pay 60 bucks for a version of the game that's better in the campaign, and maybe if I'm lucky get that interesting extra area at the end of the game (the early ones and USUM drop the ball a bit but USUM is so much better than SM during the campaign it's not even funny).

Maybe the DLC can serve as somewhat of an ad for the main game and increase sales, and a lot of the people who already bought the main game will buy the DLC regardless of how well it's integrated into the main game. Hell, that would also increase Home subscriptions. It's fucking weird that they're leaving all that money on the table by attaching the DLC to a single game. I guess the idea is that if you want the DLC you have to pay the extra 60 bucks, but balking is a real problem and people are already complaining at 70, 90 is a step too far for most people especially in this economy.

I think both of them suck tbdesu, but in the age of DLC you have to pay more than with 3rd versions.>$40 spent on the first and another $40 on the new and better game which comes up to $80 >$60 spent on an unfinished game, and then spend another $30 so the full game is $90 If I wasn't so paranoid of Nintendo fucking me over for jailbreaking, I would've done it for my switch already and started pirating the add-ons.

>>56148536 I don't like the DLC system because Pokémon playthroughs are designed to be interesting from roughly level 1 to 50. Those are the levels where you regularly get new moves and evolutions (meaningful power spikes) and you can look back and think "man, these days when I was fighting Rattata with Poison Sting, we've come a long way since then". The DLC don't have that. You start with level 60 Pokémon with full movesets and you end with level 80 Pokémon with full movesets and maybe a few DLC-exclusive tutor moves. It's stagnant, it's boring.
