Plus I really like that he's implied to have two sets of starters to take care of, it's like having 6 toddlers around the lab while he's working, haha :'D He must have quite some patience.
The entire Sycamore/Xerneas&Lysandre/Yveltail parallel is so cool too, and how he seems to struggle to recognise Lysandre's red flags because he's fond of their relationship (whether platonic or romantic) and he's probably the kind of person who tries to always see the good in people he cares about even when most others wouldn't.
Even if in the specific case of Lysandre he shouldn't because it's just gonna make him suffer, that's a good trait to have.
... And I didn't watch the entirety of the XY anime but the relationship he has with his Garchomp is so cute, I dislike Garchomp but even I find that specific one adorable when it requires to be pet lol
