Frogs are known for jumping.
I can see see him being slow and bad at jumping, but not that bad. Blastoise would probably be slower and worse in the air, he is fatter and has short limbs. I can sed Blastoise being bottom tier.

Sakurai gets all info he possibly could need for the pokémon as he works to implement them. And if he was adding Blatoise, TPC would show all the media they have relating to Blastoise using its water cannons as propulsion to "fly" (Blue's Blastoise) and theoretically in the anime (Ash's Squirtle using Hydro Pump gleaned the same effect). And odds-are Sakurai would find that entertaining enough to use that for its jump and give it a longer range.

I've given up hope for any fan favorite mons from older gens getting in. Other franchises such as DK and Metroid are able to get highly requested fan favorites, but the Pokemon Company can't let us have nice things.

Well, the good news is, other old gens all have a rep already (even if all Johto gets is Pichu and a stage). Gen 3 seems to have personally offended Sakurai at some point, its got neither. At least Rayquaza sometimes shows up to whip ass on Kalos, I guess.

I always hated how Sakurai wanted to make generic stages for Pokemon in both Melee and Brawl with the stadiums instead of actual locations from the games. Those two could have easily been stages from Johto and Hoenn. I honestly worry in the next game, he's just going to do Pokemon Stadium 3 instead something actually cool like Area Zero

Pokemon in Smash, at least early on, was very anime inspired, and the transforming arenas and stadiums full of spectators were a very distinctive element of the anime. I'm glad they're there, but I would like more game locations too. Frankly, Pokemon is big enough that any number of reps and stages can be justified if there's a good concept behind them. Better than more third party sloppa.
