There's been August directs for a few years now, if ZA is coming first quarter of 2025, that's 6 months from August and 6 months is usually when they start doing new drops.

There has been no official announcement of a direct. Outside of pokemon day, there is no guaranteed date of when a pokemon direct is. There is no shareholder or executive directive they MUST have one. The timing is most likely lined up with as you said needing enough time for promotional reasons but that logic also works against you. If there are delays on the release Pokemon is under no obligation to have something they never announced in august just because that's what was done before. Only turbo autists think that they MUST do a direct because the last few years it was done in august.
