Black and White coming out in Japanese motivated me to learn kana back in 2010. I got more serious with Japanese in the past couple years. The Ferris wheel conversations are intentionally innuendos, I remember being disappointed that they were toned down in English, but now that I can actually understand Japanese, I wanted to compare the fan translation.

Lover is a pretty strong word in English, it usually implies some physical element. 好きな人 is literally liked/beloved/favorite person, in the context of romance I feel special someone gets the same point across.
