>Gen 8The best gen in the entire series. Gave us the best-looking and most accessible mainline game ever with the coolest gimmick in Dynamax. Filtered fake fans with the dex cut, revealing who actually loved the games and whose appreciation began and ended with checklist faggotry. Also gave us PLA, the best spinoff in the series.
>Gen 6Ushered in the Pokemon Renaissance, saving the franchise after the abject failure of its predecessor. Even though sales were harmed by that game's blatant shitness poisoning the series reputation, its change to the formula and great leap forward into 3D ultimately ensured the survival of Pokemon.
>Gen 7Also very good but not as good as Gen 6, got a bit too ambitious and overcomplicated with the story and had an unnecessary amount of departure from the series formula. Also points docked for LGPE, which could have been a perfect Gen 1 remake but shoved in the Go catching mechanic.
>Gen 3The best of the Pre-Renaissance titles. Great visuals, simple but cool story and awesome 'mon designs. Also gave us FRLG, which remains the best way to play Gen 1. Obviously obsolete with ORAS.
>Gen 4Gave us a stellar remake of Gen 2, but the actual games left a little to be desired, also much too hard.
>Gen 2Considering its age and lack of compatibility with newer games it's impressive but HGSS render it completely obsolete.
>Gen 1Historically important, but terrible games. Not worth playing the originals except out of curiosity to see how far we've come.
>Gen 9The second worst game in the series. Doesn't work properly, horrible visuals, terrible gimmick, stupid overcomplicated yet bland story. Only avoids rock bottom because of...
>Gen 5Nearly killed the franchise with its insistence on making you only use Unova 'mons until postgame, awful starter designs, horrible edgy story and horrifically bad soundtrack. If it's ever remade, it needs completely reworking to retcon the original versions from existence.
