Scuttlebutt's pointed to the new system having the same cart size and slot as Switch, that Nintendo prioritised profile transfer and backwards compatibility, to encourage as many of the 145m Switch owners to migrate to the new system and rumours of upscaling for Switch 1 games played on the new system to boot. They don't need to release a "dedicated Switch 2 version" because the Switch 2 will upscale it automatically to run on the thing. TRghat's why they announced it for Switch.
As if Game Freak being the last Nintendo affiliate to release on any system they've released games for after a new hardware release is somehow fucking new, strange, odd or unusual for this reality's timeline.
