>>56191570>That's already significantly more difficult and engaging than anything else the mainline games has ever offered. If you lose the pokemon that can use ice type attacks on Lance or Cynthia's Garchomp, chances are you get fucked by getting outsped and hit with outrage/dragon rush. In BW2, if you somehow skip out on a fire or steel type for whirlipede and don't get antidotes/pecha berries, it will poison and then hit your pokemon with what's basically a 130 bp move, which kills anything you can get your hands on at that point of the game. And another example, Whitney's memetank in GSC/HGSS, which has almost zero foolproof counters for attract, flinchhax, and Milk Drink stall. Even machop, geodude, and heracross at that point could get fucked over by the cow if they end up being slower and/or are the opposite gender. In the remakes, Miltank gets Scrappy, so it's squashing Gastly like a grape. And if you're unlucky enough for Miltank to get a Rollout train going, it's basically game over.
I'm not going to deny that pokemon games are piss easy, but there's always been an element of SOME sort of strategy and motivation to teambuild properly, atleast in the earlier games. You could still win without being 100% optimal, but good luck if you decide to ignore the options available to you
