because the soul in creation is reflected from the soul of the creator. the team working on gen 1 would have been working on gen 2 as well. they would have poured just as much passion into the first sequel of the series they loved. most of the game was finished pre pokemania too so they would have made a game they wanted and not something totally for corporate demand.
