A friend got me for it for my 11th birthday. It was the only elementary school birthday party where people came. Apparently with Chinese kids at the time your parents were supposed to call their parents to make sure they know that you're a classmate and not a cannibal or something. My mom didn't know that until my fifth grade teacher told her before then they would make up the same excuse "I have to hang out with my cousin that day". I didn't wind up using it until a couple months ago. Trying to get a gen 3 living dex.

Yes, but you have to print it from the dotcode file. Printing a scan either doesn't give enough resolution or the printer introduces too much dot haze. You also need to cut the edge very carefully or it won't scan well.

Nintendo mishandled the e-reader so bad it's unreal

Plus on the Pokémon TCG side, it was at its lowest.
The upside is that I loved the concept and have a binder full of the cards and now they are worth a lot
I even have some JP exclusives like the Pikmin 2 ones

You could just have distributed these at Toys R Us or something though a kiosk and telling a wagie how to work a machine, instead of making people have to live around big cities to even get a chance at MAYBE getting the distribution(if you were there for 3 hours one day!)
Gen IV was such a breath of fresh air when I could just open up my DS and get a Pokemon.
Yes I know Eon ticket was in Nintendo Power and Toy R Us.

Even so they took their sweet ass time. I don't remember a single wifi distribution for Diamond and Pearl, they only started doing that with Platinum and HGSS.

My country didn't do events in gen III. I only knew of things like this from the internet.
I did somehow get an Eon Ticket in Alpha Sapphire. I didn't remember getting it so I was very confused to find it unused when I revisited my save file years later. Apparently you can get it in ORAS from StreetPassing with someone who has it, so thanks, I assume, to whoever passed by me.
