It's whole theming is based on wind and flight. The DRAGONfly pun only works in English. Anyone who says it should be Bug/Dragon can suck my balls.

They only gave Durant Truant because of the English pun. Japanese media has wordplay for the English language all the time. Not that I think Yanmega needs to part Dragon but wordplay only working in certain languages isn’t going to stop them

As a bugfag I look forward to an eventual bug/dragon type and am happy they didn't do something as literal as a "dragon"fly honestly. It's a cool combination with potential and having it wasted on such an uncreative idea would be underwhelming.

So does the "sand dragon" nickname antlions have that is the ENTIRE basis on why Flygon was designed

The Japanese are aware the English speakers call them dragonflies, it's not a pun that Japanese kids or the designer would be unfamiliar with at all

Pokémon names in japanese are made solely of kana, not a single one of them has a kanji. Much less one for "wind"
