1) The easiest: just play the omgon tier where it's usable
2) The hardest but certainly more rewarding: study the current metagame, figure out the common threats, try to optimize your favorite to deal with at least one of them by doing all the necessary calcs to determine stats and cherrypicking moves/items. It amounts to matchup fishing but at least it's doing something.
