Do you trade pokemon between your playthroughs?
For instance I had a post-game savefile in Red so I decided to catch a safari zone chansey to use in a new file in Blue after beating Lt. Surge.

It makes sense to liven up a playthrough by using Pokemon otherwise unavailable at certain parts of the game, I just haven't been fucked to dig out a link cable+second Gameboy or Google how to do it in an emulator and do it since I was a kid.

I get my variety of nostalgia playthroughs via playing them on different systems. Currently playing through Blue on the 3ds eShop release and a couple years ago I played Crystal via emu on my PSP. And I hope they release it on the Switch shop by the time I get this itch next year - I don't care about spending a few bucks and it gets the people around my interested in the games again whenever they sell ROMs

Yeah. I can see it being particularly useful in GSC indeed since there is now a point in catching low level pokemon from Kanto. Bet Houndour would be a likely target of this.

Yep, I played with rhyhorn that way. The exp bonus felt cheap though so I'd do eggs when possible.

I actually caught a bunch of safari zone mons including Tauros but decided to limit it to one, saving the others for the future. Chansey because why not, I really wonder what this thing does with 105 Special allowing me to actually use offensive moves in Gen 1.

Not really but only because these days I am pretty much only playing romhacks and those often have every pokemon catchable by default. I haven't been impressed with the official games since I got burned by sword and shield and scarlet/violet looked even worse.

Should I consider myself lucky for dropping SwSh halfway through and going back to older games? Although to be fair USUM still did a number on me and for years I dropped Pokemon either way.
