How would a game where you have a friend group traveling with you at all times work out gameplay-wise? Basically, if you had the stat trainers the whole game.

XY but I don't know if that counts since they aren't actively following you in the gameplay. The only other RPG that does something like this is the SMT4 duology.

It would fucking suck, every fight being a dpuble battle where you are at the mercy of the AI with half your team at all times with their pokemon, moveset, and attack choice. These should be kept brief, and work best when you design the enemies to be weaker due to your own handicap.

Could be an interesting difficulty hack, having yo play off the A.I partner every turn, lord knows they make some of the most obnoxious plays.

They should try a game where you actually control two people, and build a party of 3+3 for both character still a total of 6.
It will feature both singles and doubles, with the singles being 3v3
