If you happen to already have a switch you can check them out I guess. I wouldn't buy a switch just for that though. Honestly the switch era of games kinda sucks.

I was in the same boat except I played LGPE with my ex (I had fun with it, but no desire to replay), Sword for like an hour and I straight up couldn't do it, dropped forever.
I watched a friend play Legends Arceus because he insisted it was saving the franchise and brought it over to make me watch him play it for 30 minutes, it looked like shit to me.

Skip Sword and Shield, it's a waste of time and money and hardly feels like a Pokemon game altogether. Scarlet and Violet is a buggy mess and still garbage for a mainline title but it's leagues better than SWSH and also all the mons look way better thanks to texture and animation updates

meh, not really. PLA might be worth checking out, but maybe pirate it first to see if you like it, it can be hit or miss with people. but it's at least a different spin on Pokemon. the mainline games are stagnant and boring.
