Would removing some pokemon centers and making dungeons bigger help bring it back?

I don't think any games have ever provided a feeling of an adventure. If all that you're confronted with are easy battles where even if you lose, you can easily rush back to it in less than 5 minutes to try again. The sense of adventure can't exist without creating real challenges and consequences for the players to run into.

gen 1-3 all had a sense of adventure and then the sense of adventure plummeted once the series became 3D in gen 4

if anything sv has an awesome sense of adventure since you can explore and go anywhere, there's so much diversity of pokemon and lots of biomes. I argue gen 6/7/8 are the boring ones, bunch of hallways or boring locations that come and go one after another.

This. I really enjoyed SV because you could just go anywhere and explore. It's fun to check out areas with higher level mons and maybe snatch something rare from there to use later.

This, but it's poorly executed which is why it lacks the sense of adventure it's supposed to have
I hardly remember my playthrough, none of the locations were memorable or felt alive
The open world aspect plus being able to go anywhere quickly with Korai/Miraidon also makes cities feel a lot smaller than they're supposed to be
