It's pretty inoffensive. Red, steel, oldmon, decent in competitive without being sweaty tryhard tier. Really the only people that hate Scizor are Scytherfags that are seething that they aren't fully evolved. And nobody takes Dragonair and Haunterfags seriously when they start yapping.

It glides, it's red and looks like a Power Ranger.
It's also cool that Scyther is strong on its own, so you're not disappointed to sit on it until you get a Metal Coat.
