I cannot get over how much better Nintendo's online services used to be before the days of NSO. The 3DS had heaps of classic Pokemon games available to download even all the way back to Red and Blue. And the Virtual Console on Wii had almost every Nintendo game that had ever been released on any of their consoles save for a few third party titles.

Like five years after Gameboy Virtual Console on 3DS was even a thing, so maybe NSO can expect to get Red and Blue sometime around 2028 (without Home support obviously).

Yeah and? Going to a new console doesn't mean you need to regress your online service to a worse version of itself. Virtual console should still be around but they prefer making you pay every month for mostly shit you'll never play instead of paying once for what you want.

If it was simply up to Nintendo what to do with (property-of-Nintendo version of) Pokemon games, then they'd probably have gen 1 and 2 on there. But Pokemon being a jointly owned property with its own company to manage the whole thing with its own business strategies probably complicates things. Pokemon Company likes money.

Didn't people test that with injects already? There was an early leak of the GBA emulator stuff coming that showed Nintendo even used Emerald as a test game for it and I remember hearing Pokemon multiplayer worked just fine. The only thing I could imagine MIGHT be an issue is if NSO stops multiplayer from working if you have two different game IDs meaning Red-Blue type connections wouldn't work, but I'm sure there's a simple patch for that if it's an issue at all (it probably isn't a problem).

I am not really a leaker with much first hand information but i do know that there is a Pokemon presents next week and this Is where they will announce Nintendo Switch Online - Pokemon. It's a new app meant for Pokemon games only with cloud saves disabled and a connection to Home coming later down the road. Also the app is done by Nintendo themselves as part of a new strategy but I don't want to say too much here.
Only Red and Blue will be available this year and it is part of the expansion pack of course. Don't know when the rest will come.
Know almost nothing about Z-A except that it is further away than most here seem to think

Like how Home/Bank work? They find specific data at certain offsets within the save file. I don't know how NSO saves work exactly, but that offset could potentially change because you have so many games saving to one spot.
