Unlike your western studios, needing to "diversity" because they want to sell at the widest audience possible, in the most generic terms possible, Game Freak have one clear and absolute target market - pre-teen kids. Casuals, furfags, sweaty bastards who rarely wash and exclusively play VGC, they're all a secondary bonus to kids picking the thing up and will never be a consideration for making their games for. Sooner you grow up and accept that, the better for the entire internet.
