Additionally, even if it's a shit mobileslop game, the Perish Song dev learned what it's like to work with a defined project scope, deadlines, how to organize a workflow etc which are all skills I strongly suspect the discord devs lack.
I suppose this isn't to say professional or a widespread audience is required to hone these skills, but those environments do far better to build the self-awareness necessary to keep one grounded in the reality of what they've got, what they can realistically deliver, and what their cool mental vision of a game can realistically actualize as. All things that discord devs desperately lack on average.

the trick is that the 'full heal' pirate joke only seems to activate on the first or second turns, or maybe once she's taken damage. by swapping from ferro to basculegion back to ferro for iron barbs, basc was able to take mienshao out in one hit after that.

Conversely when they want to write an 'edgier' girlboss we start getting character templates like Titania, Eloise, Erin, or god forbid anybody c*ss is writing dialogue for where being insufferably rude and unlikable, regardless of how much sense it makes, is their defining character trait. It's really frustrating seeing the connections between these types of writing fumbles and many authors holding certain types of all-or-nothing political beliefs without a defined endpoint because those types of mentalities absolutely bleed into their writing, even if probably unintentionally and negatively impact the work for it.
I feel like Aya is a far more rounded version of the "bitchy" archetype; she has moments where she's whiny, a bit self-absorbed, and outright bratty, but also acts like a person responding to her circumstances, environment, and other characters doing things around her appropriately making her far more believable and likable as a 'flawed' character.
At some point the average discord dev lost the ability to consistently write characters that aren't constantly gravitating to extremes in personality quirks.

Regileki cleans up Salamence and Gallade (but only after spikes chip for Gallade). I needed luck to beat the Nidoking because it actually just 6-0s my whole team and Seismitoad beats everything except full health max SpDef Tapu Bulu.

I know I'm a broken record heaping praises upon it at this point but I think Clover's postgame handles extreme difficulty perfectly. I've done all of the Shadow Councils with 4 different teams with no mon overlap and they all consistently put up a very hard fight without necessarily feeling like I'm losing because I brought the wrong mons. I don't know if 4 with no overlap is a great team sample size, but I suspect most of Clover's mid-lategame mons are at least viable against them with very good play due to the sheer amount of tools in both mons/TMs/items you have at your disposal as well as the game being overall way more tightly balanced as a whole.
Compare to the bosses on the fanfic weathers in this game and I'm pretty sure the number of viable mons (barring extreme resetfaggotry/F12 RNG farming) is several orders of magnitude lower, coupled with the game being very stingy about what held items you're allowed to have making it hard to specialize "bad" or questionably viable mons to beat specific threats if they don't already do it with their base moveset and typing. This is a lot of yap that basically just boils down to me wishing DemICE would channel his autism into making more well-rounded hard fights rather than hyperfixating on one aspect of the fight and driving it up to the moon to the point that anything that doesn't favorably matchup against that it is bad.

There's very few mons intentionally designed to be shitmons compared to earlier generations (even adjusting for relative powercreep). Hell even stuff like Lokix is decent for a route 1 bugmon because of Tinted Lens even if it's not anything exceptional. In general I usually like seeing it when fangames approach shitmons with the mentality of "okay how do we make this mon playable, even if not great" as opposed to the mentality of "this is going to be earlygame trash you box after the third badge" as the former tends to have ripple effects throughout enemy trainer design to overall make a more interesting game with each fight being marginally more engaging.

honestly though i don't hate where gyarados is placed in this game. it probably could be a bit earlier, especially before basculegion, but it's more reasonable than other games

Lucile 1st try courtesy of Iron Hands cleaning half her team by himself and "strategizing" with a few lucky Quick Claw activations, one of which probably mattered a lot.
Ghosts second try. I was caught completely off guard by the doubles, but Brute Bonnet was able to "strategize" a 2+ turn sleep on Darkrai which was enough for Mr Fluffy to set up in the late game and go to town with rock slides.
I'm not going to bother trying to record these because I need to periodically get up in the middle to work on cooking dinner and I'm too lazy to edit out the AFK periods. I've gotten really lucky so far but I suspect the next 2 will be harder if this doesn't hold.

Inteleon and obviously Hawlucha after Unburden were capable of outspeeding Lumineon even after one Quiver Dance and Krookodile/Indeedee were also just faster than most of my shit
The dumb level modifier for hard mode just sucks ass on top of everything else annoying about the mode, means that you need to have much higher base speed than enemies because their level advantage means they have a huge leg up on you
