Either through an ability or a move that makes them immune or super-effective against bug type.

How about this? Give them access to Snap Trap, and make it so it does SE damage Bug-types, similar to Freeze Dry.

Could also give Victreebel Strong Jaw, and access to Poison Fang and Crunch. Just also make sure to give Strong Jaw boost to Snap Trap.

How come every time I open a thread or look at a post about giving a type/Pokémon an advantage against bug-types there's always this exact same response? Regardless of whether bug is being hated on too much, it's not like grass is even that much better than bug, especially these two.

Grass as a type is high mid at absolute worst, there's NO way you can justify buffing it before Bug or Poison or even Ice or Rock

they aren't suggesting that the grass type as a whole be better ya tard. Just saying that two shitmons, that happen to be grass types, should be a little less shit.
Steel is a great type that I think you'll find no one saying should get a buff, but someone suggesting Bastiodon or Probopass get something to be even slightly viable doesn't go against that first point.

4x sounds too much, maybe it should just cause Bug Type moves to deal normal damage and/or have have Grass moves effective at 2x.

Good idea OP, Bugfags deserve to suffer.

Also
Fairy should be SE against Bug
Psychic and Dark should lose the Bug weakness
Ground should hit for neutral against Bug
Normal should get a move like Freeze-dry, except it's SE on Bug
