If you look 25 years into the future of the Pokemon franchise, I'm 1000% certain something like that will exist, or effectively be so close to it that it doesn't matter. If you're looking for like Monster Hunter/Borderlands kind of multiplayer where you drop into a lobby with some friends and explore the world together, I am guessing Pokemon will be like that in like 8-10 years. Probably whatever console comes after the Nintendo switch. If you're willing to wait long enough, I think honestly almost anything will happen with Pokemon. Everyone will get a cross gen Evo, or a good new form, megas will come back, there will be a Pokken 2. It's all going to happen eventually, this franchise isn't going anywhere.
If you're asking if there will be a pokemon mmo within any sort of reasonable timeframe like the next 5 years? There's absolutely no reason to believe so, currently.
