It's very rare for the series to present any pokemon as remotely malevolent but you see Hypno presented as such throughout the series and I honestly like it a lot for that, the seveii island quest where it really does kidnap the little girl and try to escape with her has always stuck with me as a neat moment in the series. I hope this guy can get a new evolution or whatever gimmick since it really has not had much over years. I usually think a lot of fan retypings are stupid and unecessary but I feel like if they were going to introduce dark into kanto mon this probably would have been the most appropiate and give it something until the addition of malamar in gen 6. I used to prefer the Abra line to these guys but I think it's my favorite of the kanto psychic types, just a weird and memorable "monster" for the series.
