PLA's overworld works a bit better since aside from the occasional sidequest, the wild pokemon themselves are the content. Catching more than six pokemon is a key part of this game. I'm not saying it does this perfectly, but that the game's mechanics make the overworld feel comparatively less empty than SV.

The best Pokémon game on Switch is installing Retroarch so you can play the old ones on it.

I took a long hiatus from the series and when I came back I bought PLA and Scarlet the same day. I played PLA first and got hooked, and when I finally got around to Scarlet I was getting frustrated at how unresponsive and clumsy the controls compared to PLA. Im looking forward to ZA but if Scarlet represents the future of the mainline games I'm going to be skipping them.
