After all these years, is it worth buying either Scarlet or Violet?

Last game I played was Sword which I thought was just okay but I hated the dexcut.

It's different for sure and it does a lot better than shit and shilled imo. That said, it's a buggy mess. I'd recommend picking it up used or at a discount if you can.

I had lot's of fun with it. it's an open world with pokémon, and QoL. Passed the first two hours you're free to explore and go where you want. the last area after finishing the main game is quite Kino.
regarding the dexcut, the DLC adds 200~300 mons to the 400 base mons and let's you get some mons much earlier (like heracross)

my honest advice: go emulate and try the game for a few hours, then decide if it's worth the time and money to play.
