if it's just average or worse like 90% of megas then no, it won't help in the slightest, and people will continue just using salamence, metagross, etc like usual

Just give it a new ability that functions the same way as Armor Tail, Rage Powder & Wide Guard, and a slight bump to its HP stat and bam it's now a viable choice in VGC.

no cause it'd be gone in 2 generations max
give it leafguard/strength sap/powerwhip (it uses its big neck) and then it can have something permanent. It won't be immediately good as a mega, but its better.

Assuming they matched the way its stats are rearranged from Venusaur, that would add up to

80 HP
100 Attack
120 or 122 Defense
123 Special Attack
122 or 120 Special Defense
80 Speed

So basically, almost the same as Mega Venusaur.

The entire point of mega is for Game Freak to elevate the only starters trios they love (KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO vs Hoenn) to the status of gods and make them forever immune to powercreep. If all starters got megas that would explicitly communicate that all starters have value, which is the opposite of what Game Freak wants (especially for the Johto starters which were specifically designed for the sole purpose to be failures so that the KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO starters would look better)

Only if it's a complete overhaul like Heracross'. Meganium's problem has always been it's lack of niche. There isn't anything it does better than another pokemon you can find in game.
